   BRAND STORY

Brand Introduction

Electro-Voice

Electro-Voice (EV) designs and manufactures professional loudspeakers, microphones, and sound reinforcement systems for live performance, installed sound, broadcasting, and commercial AV. EV is one of the few brands in the industry that designs all loudspeaker components (cabinets, waveguides, transducers) in-house, ensuring consistent quality from individual speakers to complete networked systems. Over 90 years of history have fostered milestone innovations such as Variable D microphone technology, Constant Directivity (CD) Horn technology, and the broadcast standard microphone RE20.

Electro-Voice was founded in 1927 in South Bend, Indiana, USA. In July 2025, following the spin-off of Bosch's Communications division, it became part of the newly formed KEENFINITY Group (sister brands include Dynacord, RTS, and Telex), with over 4,200 employees globally and a group revenue of approximately 1 billion euros for the 2024 fiscal year. EV primarily serves professional audio engineers, touring production companies, system integrators, and the broadcast market. In 1963, it was awarded an Oscar for the 642 Cardiline shotgun microphone, marking the first time an audio product received this honor.

   CORE STRENGTHS

Exclusive Technology and Core Advantages

Vertically integrated in-house design for all components

EV independently designs all speaker components (enclosures, waveguides, and transducers) to ensure high component integration, eliminating reliance on third-party parts to achieve consistent sound performance and stricter quality control.

Variable-D microphone technology

First introduced in 1953, Variable-D technology eliminates tone shifts caused by varying distances (proximity effect), making the RE20 the global industry standard for broadcasting, voiceover, and recording studios.

constant directivity horn technology

EV pioneered the development of CD Horn technology in 1973, ensuring uniform high-frequency distribution across the listening area, solving the problem of high-frequency concentration in large venues, and providing predictable coverage for stadium sound systems.

Full-site networked audio system integration

EV loudspeaker systems can be integrated with Dynacord DSP electronics via the OMNEO/Dante architecture to provide scalable, networked sound reinforcement solutions for stadiums, airports, performing arts centers, and houses of worship.
